STAGE 8: ADDING ANIMATION

The final stage was to add some human characters into the scenes, to give a sense of scale and to help bring the scene to life with activity. Rather than create these characters with 3D animation, Red Star chose to include real performers in the shots.

With assistance from members of the Sealed Knot historical recreation society, Red Star filmed two performers in period costumes against a bluescreen background, firstly in the car park adjacent to their premises for the outdoor scenes, and later in the film studio at Sheffield Independent Film for the interior scene. In the studio, close attention to lighting had to be paid to simulate the light falling on the actors from the fire pits.
