STAGE 6: RENDERING THE MODEL
Once prepared, the texture images can be applied to the 3D model.
Different images are used to drive different characteristics of
the surface, so whilst a main colour image is used to give the
surface its appearance, another “bump” image is also
applied to define the “bumpiness” of the surface,
making a brick will appear to be made of irregular individual
bricks.
Other images are used to add details such as the trees and foliage
seen outside the buildings. Images of plants and vegetation are
applied to flat surfaces in 3D, giving a far more realistic impression
that possible had they been entirely created in CGI.
