15 May. Grand Prince Vladimir in a letter to I.N. Durnovo, the Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs, demands that the newspaper Novosti (The News) which published Stasov's article in defence of Repin's Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan be prosecuted. Editors of all periodicals are sent an official instruction not to publish 'any insinuations against or attacks on the Imperial Academy'.
