Petition (1)

Since the concern of the Council of the Academy is with the resplendence of the forthcoming exhibition, and in order to make this even more diverse and worthy of the anniversary festivities, we, for our part, have decided to declare our sincere desire that those of us who wish to do so should have a free choice of subjects alongside the set theme, in view of the fact that the Council itself has in certain circumstances admitted the necessity of giving free reign to an artist's personal tastes. On this basis we request that the Council extend this rule to all, in the event of the theme or subject not coinciding with the competitor's orientation.
